Counselling Skills Essentials for Teachers

Course Overview

The workshop provides an introduction to the concept of
counselling and essential counselling skills required by the
teachers.
The course is designed in a manner that inculcates
self-awareness, improves teacher-student relationship and
empowers teachers to address the academic, emotional and
relationship concerns of the students well within the
professional boundaries.

Outcome of the course

Understanding of basic counselling skills when
managing students particularly in post-high-stress
situations such as COVID
To provide basic intervention support and apply basic
counselling skills for better student-teacher relationship
Working from a holistic care model that acknowledges
the Pacific cultural components.
To observe and identify problem areas (emotional,
behavioral, social, study-related difficulties, academic
deterioration) in an appropriate evidence-based manner.
Practice counselling ethics within the teaching
boundaries
