Value Added Tax

Description

VAT is considered to be a superior form of sales tax as it exhibits the features of simplicity and business neutrality. The non-cascading nature of VAT makes it economic efficient as tax distortions in pricing decisions are eliminated. The Fijian VAT regime demonstrates these features and is also based on destination principle by ensuring that only imports rather than exports are subject to such tax.
